DAR honors Constitution with library exhibits
Special exhibits at the Concord Free Public Library are honoring the Constitution through September courtesy of the Old Concord Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.
The displays at the Main Library and Fowler branch include Howard Chandler Christy’s painting of the signing of the Constitution.
The Main Library exhibit includes pictures of each of the 39 delegates who signed the Constitution. The Fowler library has a Lego display depicting the delegates in discussion.
The DAR is also distributing bookmarks printed with the preamble to the Constitution to both library buildings, and doing the same at libraries in Acton, Boxborough, Carlisle, Littleton, Maynard, and Stow.
Constitution Week has been observed each September since 1956, when President Dwight Eisenhower enacted a law commemorating the document’s 1787 ratification.
