Bookmarks available to
celebrate Constitution Week
In celebration of Constitution Week, the Old Concord Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution are providing libraries in the towns of Acton, Boxborough, Carlisle, Concord, Littleton, Maynard, and Stow with bookmarks printed with the Preamble to the Constitution for patrons (especially children) to take.
President Dwight Eisenhower designated the time from 9/17 to 9/23 annually as Constitution Week to commemorate and celebrate the signing of the US Constitution that took place on September 17, 1787. President Eisenhower’s proclamation came after the passage of a joint resolution on August 2, 1956, by both Houses of Congress to set this time aside for contemplation and commemoration for the acts resulting in our constitution. President Eisenhower encouraged “appropriate ceremonies and activities in schools, churches, and in other suitable places”. |
The Old Concord Chapter also encourages you to reflect on and celebrate our constitution.
