The Old Concord Chapter (OCC) Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) placed a wreath at the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery flagpole as part of Concord’s Veterans Day Ceremony. Additionally, the OCC DAR chapter sponsored two tables at the Acton Boxborough Veterans Day Breakfast and set up a Missing Man Table to honor those veterans who are missing
Annually, OCC supports veterans by conducting a chapter clothing drive for items requested by the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans hospital. Daughters go shopping and bring donations for requested items to the hospital’s volunteer office. Old Concord members participate in the Operation Delta Dog Walk and Wag fund-raiser for Veterans. Operation Delta Dog rescues shelter dogs to train as service dogs for |
veterans.
The Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital still has restrictions on patient visitors because of COVID. The OCC provided greeting cards for visitors to write to veterans at the American Heritage Museum WWII reenactment and at the Operation Delta Dog Walk and Wag. The cards are delivered to the Veterans hospital. The OCC NSDAR is a volunteer non-profit and non-partisan women's service organization promoting historic preservation, education, patriotism, and outreach within our community. OCC covers the towns of Concord, Carlisle, Stow, Maynard, Acton, Boxborough, and Littleton and welcomes members from other locations to be part of the Old Concord Chapter.
